I'm looking at the clock, and it's 12:12. I'm still in bed. I have a cold that won't go away, so I figured I'd sleep all morning long and see if that helped. It might have. I may sleep all afternoon just to be sure though.
But that's beside the point*. I bring it up because it reminded me of lunch the other day. When my friend and I had finished, our server brought the bill.
Friend: Hmm. Our bill came to $24.24.
Me: That's interesting. Let's just have him split it.
Friend: Ok.
Me: You take the first twenty-four, and I'll take the second.
Friend: . . .
*Unless the point was to try and get sympathy. Which it might have been. Come on. Give it up.

I see your cold medicine has kicked in.
that cold seems to be going around - i hope you feel better soon and i'm DEFINITELY using that line next time i go out to eat with someone
no sympathy for the bill:)...but plenty for you being so sick...I've managed to fair really well so far this winter with only a mild cold maybe two times...
Soup!!! and more soup...even if it's just chicken bouillon cubes, one or two in a cup of hot water...does make a diff. I did that for Giovanni when he was really sick. Like, in the hospital for 11 days sick he was. Lingered on a bit after he came out and was back in NY.
Take care:) Soup!
you poor bastard. good call on the bill.
mint!
get well soon old chap.....and eh now that I think about it who got the tip? eh?
Very nice on the bill. I like quick thinkers.
I never get sick, so your illness actually makes me jealous (I BET YOU'RE WATCHING ELLEN RIGHT NOW) and totally unsympathetic.
aw, well, I hope you get better, Minnow! (see, whenever I'm sick, I tend to eat the spiciest food on the face of the planet... but seeing as how you're not Mexican, that might backfire on you)
And quit being a cheapskate, yo! (haha, look who's talking!)
hmmmmmm no answer.....I see then....
Manuel, we ended up splitting it the right way, and we tipped the right way too.
