The clock never stops, never stops, never waits

I was supposed to meet a girl last night after work.

She didn't show up.

It's the first time I've been stood up by a girl. Sure, I've had people say "Maybe we could do something this weekend", and then not call to finalize any plans, but that's not quite the same.

It's a crappy feeling.

I waited for a little while, but when it became obvious that she wasn't going to show up I called and left a message telling her that I assumed she wasn't coming so I was going home, and that I hoped everything was okay.

This morning I still hadn't heard anything from her. As I left the house I told my roommate about it, and mentioned that I would never for the life of me understand women. After all, I'd seen her that afternoon*, and she seemed excited to meet up later.

She called me on my way to work. It turns out she'd fainted during her evening class. When she recovered she told everyone around her that she was fine and that she had somewhere to be, but thankfully nobody would let her drive. One of her classmates drove her to her mom's house, but she'd left her phone and laptop in her car so she couldn't contact me to let me know.

Once I heard that, I texted my roommate to tell let him know. I told him that I felt better knowing that she was okay, and that at least there was a good reason.

He wrote back, "Good. Is your faith in women restored?"

I answered, "Not necessarily."

*I didn't even have a chance to say or do anything to screw things up in between.

poor Minnow, but at least she did have a good reason, and I bet she really was excited - hey think of it this way, maybe she was so excited that she forgot to breathe and then fainted, that's how I'D tell the story ;>

that would be sucky, but definitely sounds like a good reason....

That's an awesome excuse; I'm totally going to start using that. Thanks!

She still should have called. Good luck in the Great White North. I'm assuming you know it's very cold and there are a lot of alcoholics.

I think there is a lesson in that for all of us. I'm not sure yet what it is but I'm glad you didn't really get stood up. How could any girl resist you? ;)

Obviously, she was so excited/nervous about yr. date that night that it overwhelmed her system - at least that's what I would claim and mention the next time you do see her. At least that's a good excuse for not showing . . .

It would have been funny if you said "I can have that effect on women." (jokingly of course)

Heff, I seem to be able to do that on a regular basis, so it shouldn't be too long. If I see her again, which may or may not happen.

Amber, $2 and Kmwthay, it may have been the effect I have on women, but came from a feeling of dread rather than excitement ;-)

Steph, LS and Romany, it is a good reason, but I still could've used a call. It still counts as being stood up.

Troll, you're absolutely right. If she was aware enough to tell people she had somewhere to be, she ought to have had someone grab her stuff from her car. However, in her defense, she doesn't have my number memorized, and could only remember the last four digits when she got to her mom's.

DSBarringer, that's what I'm here for. You're welcome.
