And it's hard to tell what it is and what it's not

Student: So is this quiz going to be multiple choice?

Me: No.

Student: So we have to, like, guess what the answer is?

Me: Or, you could just know the answer.

I would love if one day you were in the perfect position to say this Billy Madison quote to one of your students:

"what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Then I would really love to read about it.

yes, i told mine today that they needed to know vocabulary for their math test tomorrow, and they just about died when i told them it wasn't multiple choice....one asked if they could give condensed definitions.
