I know you tried, I know you're cursed, I know your best was still your worst

The day before my sister's wedding I administered an exam in the night class I'm teaching. I didn't grade them until I got back. When I did get them graded, I saw something that depresses me greatly. It involves the following question (which I'd gone over three different times in class):

During aerobic respiration, which of the following molecules directly donates electrons to the electron transport chain at the lowest energy level, and thus only generates two ATP molecules?
A) NADH
B) FADH2

Two students chose D.

I wish I was joking.

In response to your Twitter feed:
"Why yes, old high school acquaintance, your "liking" of Glenn Beck on facebook IS enough for me to delete you as a "friend"" = AWESOME!!!

Considering HEFF almost fell asleep reading the damn question, their pencils may have just dropped as unconciousness set in, thus hitting option "D" on the way down ;)

is this a trick question?

um.... I believe the answer is A.

Am I right??

I want to take one of your tests just for the hell of it to see how I'd do. But I'd expect you not to laugh as you grade it. I'm serious on both accounts. :)

Nice Band of Horses lyric. I do love that song.

Also, these students found the secret answer of You're Really Stupid.

You need to steal Amber's cartoon on her blog and post it. So fitting!

You should suggest they study social science! They could still be called doctor if they were a psychologist. bTW if I ever end up in one of your classes I expect an A by default.

In response to the comment about social science: have you ever run a research study or gone through the difficulties of a graduate program to earn said Ph.D you are scoffing at? Also, psychologists treat patients (just like "real" doctors do) as well as educate and conduct research.
