For Shooting Star

I took this picture as a testament to how man has alterred the world. The mile marker speaks for itself by marring the view, but the reservoir may be less obvious. Both alter the landscape, and neither would be there without man's help.

My brother looked at me like I was a weirdo when I took this picture.

I remember responding to him with "Now that's f**king art!"

(Note to Shooting Star and Flies Without Wings (I'm boycotting the acronyms for now): Does this help with the homesickness?)

Well "help" with the homesickness is a subjective question--but hell no it doesn't help!:0). I love the picture, and also think it's fucking good art!

It is crazy how pictures like that squeeze my whole heart. I probably even get there more than you (I have a free place to stay), so I feel a bit guilty about complaining. Although maybe my visits for the next 3 years will be a little sparce. It makes me feel better that the oxidation process that makes those rocks red also happend to my blood! That place will be inside me forever.

Why don't we all just start a colony there eh? It'd be affordable and no matter what time of night you could always find someone to play Dr. Mario with!

Can you believe that you were so upset about moving there now? In retrospect, it was life-changing for all of us in a positive way...
